FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DANE-ELEC OFFERS DDR MEMORY MODULES Irvine, CA., March 14, 2001 -- Dane-Elec Corporation, USA, a worldwide memory manufacturer, today announced the availability of DDR modules. Dane-Elec will be manufacturing and selling DDR/SDRAM 128MB and 256MB modules. These DDR (Double Data Rate) memory modules are the next generation of SDRAM. Like SDRAM, DDR is synchronous with the system clock. The big difference between DDR and SDRAM memory is that DDR reads data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal. SDRAM only carries information on the rising edge of a signal. Basically this allows the DDR module to transfer data twice as fast as SDRAM. For example, instead of a data rate of 133MHz, DDR memory transfers data at 266MHz. "Dane-Elec Corporation is pleased to offer DDR modules. It’s the natural evolution of memory products," said Adrian Proctor, General Manager of Dane-Elec Corporation. "DDR SDRAM is emerging as the next-generation memory solution for computing applications and is gaining momentum in the networking and consumer markets. Dane-Elec Corporation continues to meet the diverse needs of multiple market segments, giving our customers multiple choices from a single memory source." DDR modules, like their SDRAM predecessors, are called DIMMs. They use motherboard system designs similar to those used by SDRAM; however, DDR is not backward compatible with SDRAM-designed motherboards. DDR memory supports both ECC (error correction code, typically used in servers) and non-ECC (used on desktops/laptops.) The DDR memory modules carry a lifetime warranty and free technical support. Dane-Elec products are available through resellers, mail order and distributors.
