Installation Instructions for PhotoMate Combo Reader for Macintosh (Mac OS 8.51 and higher)

**Mac OS 8.51 or higher is required**

Important Note

If you are using a USB keyboard, it is recommended that you plug the reader into the main system USB port and not into the keyboard USB socket.

  1. Your PhotoMate Combo Reader kit should contain the following:
    1. PhotoMate Combo Reader
    2. Installation/Driver CD
    3. Installation Instructions

  2. Turn on your computer.
  3. Once your system has completed the boot process, insert the USB connector of the PhotoMate Combo Reader into the USB port of your computer.
  4. Insert the PhotoMate Combo Reader driver CD into your CDROM drive.
  5. Double click on the USB Drivers (CDROM Icon)
  6. Double click on "CF-SM USB Combo Reader".
  7. Double click on "CF-SM Driver Installer".
  8. You will then see "USB Card Reader Installer", click "Continue".
  9. You will then see "Your Mac may need to restart after installation. Do you wish to continue?" Click "Yes".
  10. You may see "Some items to be removed or replaced by this installer, etc..." Click "Yes""
  11. Reboot your computer.

Using the PhotoMate Combo Reader

WARNING!

If you are attempting to read a memory card that has data on it and you are asked "Do you want to format?", you will lose all data that is currently on the card if you do format it.

  • Compact Flash:
    1. Insert a Compact Flash card in the top slot of the PhotoMate Combo Reader (The lip of Compact Flash card is down when inserting it into the reader.) You do not need to turn off your computer to insert a memory device into the card reader.

    2. Click on the "untitled icon".
    3. Click on the "DCIM" folder.
    4. Click on the file you wish to open.

  • Smart Media:

    1. Insert the Smart Media into the bottom slot of the PhotoMate Combo Reader with the gold leads facing up. You do not need to turn off your computer to insert a memory device into the card reader.

    2. Click on the "untitled icon".
    3. Click on the file you wish to open.
